Group Leader (PostDoc) Geoinformatics. University of Heidelberg

A Group Leader (PostDoc) position is avaiable within the Geoinformatics Research Group at the
Department of Geography of the University of Heidelberg.The leader of a Incubator Group shall start
establishing a research group on its own and support the scientific work within the Chair of
Geoinformatics. The topics of such an incubator group shall be close to those already being
researched at the Chair of GIScience, http://giscience.uni-hd.de, such as:

• 3D-City and Landscape Models(3D:GIS)
• Crowdsourced and Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI): GeoWeb2.0
• Next Generation Spatial Data Infrastructures (e.g.Analysis&Geoprocessing in SDIs)

Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) and funding member of the Heidelberg Center for the

We expect a top rated university deegree and PhD in either Geoinformatics, Geography or Computer
Science, as well as research experience and know how in Geoinformatics, paired with the ability for
independent scientific work and aquiring third party funds, as well as teamwork and leadership, in
particular personell management.

In addition to the usual documents (cv, grades, papers etc.) a letter of motivation is desired with a
sketch of the planned future research directions.

The position is funded for up to 3 years. After successfull evaluation there may be an option for
extension for another 3 years.
