PhD position Visual Analytics in Finance

The Visualization Group at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) has an open position for a

    4-year PhD student Visual Analytics for Finance and Insurance

The position is in the NWO RATE Analytics project, a joint research project between TU Eindhoven, Tilburg University, Rabobank and Achmea. The overall goal of this project is to develop foundations and techniques for next generation big data analytics, facilitating the development of a wide range of applications in banking and insurance, including, but not limited to, intrusion detection, transactions and insurance fraud detection, loan default prediction, prediction of extreme (health-insurance) claims, and data-driven product development.

We are looking for candidates with a strong background and interest in Visual Analytics and/or information visualization, who are challenged by real-world problems and data. The team will closely collaborate and spend significant time within the Data Science teams of Rabobank and Achmea. We offer a full time appointment for 4 years, with a competitive salary.

New Post-Doctoral Position in Simulation for Surgical Planning

The Interactive Graphics and Simulation Group, established in 2014 at Innsbruck University, Austria, invites applications for the position of a full-time post-doctoral researcher with focus on modeling and simulation for surgical planning.

We are seeking a qualified researcher with interest and skill in medical simulation and surgical planning applications. The main focus will be on the simulation of forearm motion, especially including aspects of handling contacts between tissue models during movement. This will concern elements of collision detection and response. The activity will be carried out in the context of improving planning for forearm surgery, within the scope of a collaborative Swiss-Austrian research project. The partners comprise the University Hospital Balgrist in Zurich and the Institute for Surgical
Technology, University of Bern, Switzerland.

Candidates should have earned a doctoral degree in a relevant field, possess a publication record commensurate with experience, and have demonstrated strengths in interactive simulation and computer graphics.
Basic knowledge in biomechanical modelling and surgical planning is also a plus. A candidate showing enthusiasm for leading-edge research, team spirit, and capability for independent problem-solving is sought.

The position is open immediately until filled. It is offered for 18 months, with an option for extension, on the level of non-permanent university research staff. Salaries are internationally competitive and commensurate with qualification and experience.
