MS/MA/MPH Researcher - Behavioral science - NIH - Bethesda, Maryland
National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI)
Division of Intramural Research

TASKS/SERVICES: The contractor shall:

1. Conduct and oversee operations in an immersive virtual environment research facility.
2. Conduct behavioral experiments with human participants using virtual reality technology and psychophysiological measurement tools.
3. Oversee participant recruitment and scheduling.
4. Maintain recruitment and participant databases.
5. Manage participant interface with NIH Clinical Center procedures.
6. Maintenance of virtual reality equipment, software, and general testing area facilities.
7. Perform literature searches; prepare summaries and reports.
8. Work with staff on data preparation.
9. Prepare and code experimental data for analysis.
10. Contribute to planning and executing plans for development of new virtual reality environments.
11. Act as a liaison with computer programmers for creation of virtual reality environments.
12. The scheduled hours are not conventionally M-F but rotated to accommodate human subject participants. The 40 hour work week includes weekdays, 2-3 evenings per week, and 2-3 weekend daytime hours per month.

REQUIREMENTS. The contractor must have:

1. Bachelor or Master degree in psychology, behavioral science, public health, human-computer interaction or related.
2. One+ years experience working on behavioral research with human subjects (school experience accepted).
3. Computer proficient in software applications, knowledge of computer hardware, and demonstrated ability to learn specialized scientific computer programs.
4. Computer programming experience or coursework is preferred.
5. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
6. Ability to multitask and be flexible in a variable working environment.
7. Strong oral and written communications skills.
8. Flexible work availability to accommodate human subjects' schedules.
