Post-doctoral fellowship at University of Sussex

The Interact Lab (http://interact-lab.com/) of the University of Sussex has an opening for a post-doctoral fellow with experience in computer graphics and HCI to join our team to work on computational approaches to acoustic levitation.

The primary goal of this project is to apply the principles of wave manipulation and fabrication techniques to explore the design of acoustic waves and acoustic meta-materials to enable new forms of levitation. This will also allow us to explore its potential for human computer interaction and the creation of novel user experiences.

The position will involve a variety of tasks: design and construction of light-weight objects that could be levitated, implementing acoustic algorithms, implement interaction techniques, conduct user-studies to identify interaction principles and publishing these results in scientific venues. The applicant will also be expected to help in the teaching of related units.

The position would be suitable for someone with experience on technical aspects of one or more of the following areas

a) Computer graphics (with some interest and experience in human-computer interaction and/or fabrication techniques).
b) human-computer interaction (i.e. audio processing, interactive graphics, 3D printing techniques and levitation),
Experience with computational fabrication techniques will be highly valued.
