PostDoc at the University of Florida

"The Media Effects and Technology Lab at the University of Florida’s College of Journalism and Communications (http://www.jou.ufl.edu) has an opening for a postdoctoral fellowship. The primary responsibilities of the fellow will be to help build the virtual reality (VR) component of the lab, including managing hardware and software, designing and running studies, analyzing data, assisting with grant proposals, and conducting training modules/sessions. The fellow will have a Ph.D. in hand (or should defend and join the lab by August 2016). The ideal candidate would have extensive experience (e.g. 4-5 years of graduate studies) developing research-quality *immersive* virtual reality applications, preferably in Unity3D, involving commercial head-mounted displays and wide-area tracking systems. Experience incorporating embodied conversational agents (e.g., 3D models, animation, and artificial intelligence) into social applications is desirable, as is the ability to network together multiple virtual reality systems into collaborative virtual environments. An understanding of experimental methods and statistical skills are a plus.

Salary is competitive. The fellowship is for one year, with the opportunity to renew for a second year. For more details about the position, please contact Sri Kalyanaraman at: sri@jou.ufl.edu.
