Postdoctoral Position in User State Sensing at the USC Institute for Creative Technologies


The MxR Lab at the University of Southern California Institute for Creative Technologies is seeking a postdoctoral researcher for a project in user state sensing. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer science or a related field and a research background in computer vision, machine learning, 3D user interfaces, virtual environments, virtual humans, or a similar area.

This position is funded by a project that involves assessing the user's psychological state through verbal and nonverbal behavior during interactions with virtual humans, based primarily on data collected through video and depth cameras.  Specific responsibilities will include:
- Designing and prototyping sensing methodologies to inform model's of the user's psychological state
- Developing software libraries that facilitate user state sensing
- Collaborating with other divisions of the ICT to contribute to an integrated sensing framework
- Conducting user studies, analyzing data, and publishing results
