Post-doctoral position on cardiac image analysis

Postdoctoral Research Assistant - Image Analysis for reconstruction of individual beating hearts

Oxford e-Research Centre, 7 Keble Road, Oxford

Grade 7: £29,099 - £35,788 p.a.

Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant (Image Analysis for reconstruction of individual beating hearts) position to develop image analysis tools to characterise the microstructure and function of the living myocardium.

The work will be carried out within a collaborative project between the Oxford e-Research Centre, the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine and the Department of Computer Science at the University of Oxford, and the National Heart and Lung Institute, Imperial College. The aim of the project is to investigate the role of cardiac microstructure in normal and pathological heart function using a combination of multimodal images. These include histological slices and MRI data sets acquired in vivo and in vitro, including in vivo diffusion tensor images (DTI) acquired using novel methods being developed over the course of the project. The appointed PDRA will focus on fusion and extraction of information from multimodality scans at different scales, and will be integrated in a group combining researchers in image analysis and computational modelling.

The post is available for 2-2.5 years starting and is available immediately. There are excellent opportunities for personal and career development within the group and the department.

The closing date for applications is noon on 2 March 2012.
