Position Summary |
The
Department of Computer Science at the University of Arkansas at Little
Rock (UA Little Rock) seeks an outstanding applicant for a tenure-track
faculty position in Computer Science at the Assistant Professor rank.
Stronger candidates at higher ranks may be considered. Salaries
commensurate with the rank of the position and qualifications will be
offered. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and
agency/institution policy.

Job Duties and Responsibilities |
- Successful
candidates must have a strong commitment to high quality research and
teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, as well as service;
- Develop curriculum and new modes of instruction;
- Teach effectively in classroom and lab settings;
- Establish and sustain independent and interdisciplinary research;
- Produce scholarly publications in leading scientific journals;
- Present at major conferences;
- Work with major funding agencies;
- Secure external funding;
- Supervise undergraduate and graduate students;
- Participate in and contribute to major professional societies;
- Participate in shared faculty governance;
- Contribute
through research, teaching, and service to the diversity and excellence
of the learning experience in order to train the next generation of
computer scientists.
- Perform other duties as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities |
While other specializations will be considered, preference will be given to applicants with experience in the following areas:
- Game
Development: Applicants with strengths in various aspects of game
development such as computer graphics, game design, game programming,
animation, visualization, simulation, virtual reality, augmented
reality, or mobile applications are encouraged to apply;
- Computer
Systems: Applicants with strengths in various aspects of computer
systems such as cybersecurity, systems architecture, operating systems,
networking, or cloud/high performance computing are encouraged to apply;
- Virtual
reality: Applicants with strengths in various aspects of virtual and
augmented reality application design, development, and evaluation such
as software engineering, interactive computer graphics, human-computer
interaction, collaborative systems, or immersive systems are encouraged
to apply.

Required Education and/or Experience |
A
Ph.D. in Computer Science or related discipline; evidence of strong
research potential; good communication skills, and a commitment to
teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
