“3D Interactive objects Layout Using Virtual Reality Techniques and Constraint Programming”
The University of Angers (France) is seeking a postdoctoral researcher in 3D advanced human-computer interaction, virtual / augmented reality. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in computer science and a research background in virtual environments, 3D user interfaces, and human-computer interaction. Knowledge or interest in constraint programming will be greatly appreciated.
The aim of the research is to contribute to the design and the development of innovative multimodal interaction techniques enabling 3D layout of complex virtual environments and to investigate the use of virtual reality concepts for interacting with a constraint solver in placement problems. In this context, constraint programming will be used for modeling, solving and assist the user during the 3D layout.
This research is carried out in the context of collaboration between LISA (http://lisa.univangers.fr) and LERIA Labs. (http://www.info.univ-angers.fr/leria).
The University of Angers (http://www.univ-angers.fr) founded in 1356, is located at about 300 km (190 mi) southwest of Paris. Angers is the historical capital of Anjou and was for centuries an important stronghold in northwestern France Angers enjoys a rich cultural life, made possible by its universities and museums. The old medieval centre is still dominated by the massive château of the Plantagenêts, home of the Apocalypse Tapestry. Angers is also both at the edge of the Val de Loire, a World Heritage Site.
Initial appointment will be for one year with the possibility of renewal for subsequent years. Please direct all inquiries to Paul Richard(paul.richard@univ-angers.fr).
